A community sauna / 2025
Tideline
A warm place at the edge of things.
A volunteer-run seaside sauna had outgrown bookings by direct message. The answer needed to work for the volunteers as well as the swimmers.
What they came with
Tideline’s founders were managing sessions in a shared notebook and three different inboxes. Their first request was a new brand. Their existing hand-painted sign was already loved. We suggested keeping it.
What we saw in the fallow
We joined the early swim, then watched a volunteer deal with a full session, a late arrival, and a power cut. The important information was almost boring: where to change, who to call, and whether the steps were accessible. It was also hard to find.
A note from the work
Warm water is optional. Clear information isn’t.
— Ingrid & MateoWhat we made
A light website that puts practical information first and connects to their existing booking service. Clear session types, a tide-independent arrival guide, access notes, and one place for weather closures. The volunteers rehearsed making updates while we were still there.
What grew
New volunteers can now take a shift without inheriting a founder’s phone. We check the booking journey each winter and help tidy the access notes as the site changes. The sign is still there.
